Dr. Karl Michel is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon serving West Palm Beach and the surrounding communities of Palm Beach County. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Florida International University. He then advanced his studies and attended medical school at Temple University’s prestigious School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. After completing his medical education and training, he moved to Michigan where he completed and advanced & extensive surgical residency in orthopedic trauma and reconstructive procedures of the foot and ankle at St. John’s Providence Hospital’s notable podiatric reconstructive and trauma surgical residency program. During residency, Dr. Michel attended training courses throughout the country focused on foot and ankle orthopedic surgery and performed thousands of surgical procedures. He was named chief resident during his final year, participated in several research projects and lectures: “I’m very blessed to have been trained by respected leaders and visionaries in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery as well as orthopedic surgery.”

Following his residency training, Karl Michel, DPM moved back to South Florida and can now be found gladly at Genesis Foot & Ankle Institute providing care to Palm Beach County residents with offices located in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach.

Dr. Michel is a competent, compassionate, and assiduous foot & ankle surgeon who focuses on treating his patients with non-operative treatment options. However, if surgery is needed, he has the training, expertise and experience required to offer his patients minimally invasive options. He uses new technologies for the latest and most effective care of the patient’s foot and ankle problems. As a lower extremity specialist, he delivers the best possible outcomes which result in an improved quality of life to all his patients.

His area of interests includes sport’s injuries; pediatric, adult foot and ankle deformities, ankle arthroscopy, foot and ankle fractures, diabetic limb salvage, peripheral nerve surgery, arthritis, regenerative medicine, autologous platelet, and amniotic derived stem cell therapy. South Florida is raving about his meticulous skills, creativity in treating the more complex lower extremity disorders.
Patient treated by Dr. Michel can attest that the level of service rendered is unmatched due to his compassionate and gentle approach to patient care. He genuinely enjoys spending quality time with each patient to better understand their foot and ankle need and recommend the best course of treatment. He works closely with primary care physicians and other specialists to ensure the most effective treatment plan.

He currently serves as a staff member at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Delray Medical Center, Select Specialty Hospital, Kindred Hospital, and JFK Medical Center (Main & North Campus) where he is also involved in residency education / training as a teaching faculty. He takes great pride in helping shape the next generation of surgeons.

Dr. Michel maintains his training and credentials by regularly attending continuing education seminars, workshops, and conferences with his peers across the U.S and abroad.

He is a member in good standing of the America Podiatric Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society, and the National Medical Association.

Dr. Michel is proficient in speaking both French & Creole. His most accomplished role to date is being a husband and a father.​
